Winston Art Group has more than 75 art market specialists whose areas of expertise cover every type of fine art, decorative art, jewelry and collectibles. Each specialist has a minimum of 10 years of experience in his or her chosen field of expertise.

Managing Director

Elizabeth brings 30 years of experience in the art world to Winston Art Group. Before joining Winston Art Group, she was President of the US operations for another art advisory and appraisal firm where she worked for 18 years. Prior to that, she was Vice President and Director of the Estates and Appraisals department of Habsburg Fine Art Auctioneers, and she started her career as Assistant Vice President in charge of the Appraisal department at Christie’s New York. Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University and a Masters of Art from Columbia University.

Elizabeth was on the Board of The Appraisers Association of America from 2003-2015; 2014 Chair and Board Member of The Appraisal Foundation; is a Fellow of the Pierpont Morgan Library and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors; a Member of ArtTable; and an Associate Member of the Inland Marine Underwriters Association. She co-wrote a chapter of “Fine Art & High Finance,” published by Bloomberg Press in 2009, wrote a chapter in “Appraising Art: The Definitive Guide to Appraising the Fine and Decorative Arts,” published by the Appraisers Association of America in 2013, and she edited the “Antique Hunters Guides to Pottery and Porcelain, Furniture, and Silver and Pewter” for BlackDog Publications in 2000-2001. She is a qualified expert witness, lectures frequently on Fine and Decorative art and art as an asset class, and in 2015 was included on Private Asset Management’s list of “The 50 Most Influential Women in Wealth Management.”

She has a Masters of Art in Studio Art from New York University with a concentration in ceramics. She is compliant with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).

Kimball Higgs

Senior Director, Fine Art

Kimball brings more than 20 years of broad experience across the art world to Winston Art Group, where, as Senior Director of Fine Art, he specializes in Modern and Contemporary art, as well as in Books and Manuscripts. He is responsible for assisting the firm’s major private clients with their collections of fine art. Previously, Kimball was Senior Vice President at an appraisal firm in New York City, and prior to that worked for Gagosian Gallery, as well as in the Books and Prints departments at Sotheby’s New York. He started his career as a rare book expert at the Grolier Club in New York, where he worked with major books and manuscript collections. Kimball is on the board of the International Print Center New York, and a member of the Grolier Club, where he has co-curated several exhibitions. He is compliant with Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), has passed his Appraiser’s Association of America certification exam in Contemporary Art, is a Committee Member of the Appraisers Association of America, and is a vetter for the Spring Masters art fair in New York.

Susan has over 30 years of appraisal and auction experience. She specializes in American, English, and Continental Fine and Decorative Arts, and in 20th Century and Contemporary Design. In 2020 she was certified by the Appraiser Qualifications Board of the The Appraisal Foundation as an instructor of The Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). She is a certified member of the Appraisers Association of American and serves on their Board of Directors as Second Vice President. In 2019 she was awarded the President’s Award by the Appraisers Association for outstanding contributions to the appraisal profession. She has been an instructor for the Appraisal Institute of America’s Comprehensive Appraisal Studies Program (CASP) and adjunct instructor at New York University’s School of Professional Studies. She holds a Master’s Degree from the Bard Graduate Center in the History of Decorative Arts, Design and Material Culture, where she received the New York Silver Society’s Research Award, a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University, and a Certificate in Appraisal Studies from New York University. She has been a lecturer for Christie’s Education, presented at the Appraiser’s Association National Conference and has served as an expert witness in the decorative arts field.

Courtney brings more than 20 years of experience in the art world to Winston Art Group. The child of passionate collectors, she has parlayed a lifetime of attending auctions and galleries into a career in the arts. As Director of Trusts & Estates for Winston Art Group, Courtney works with fiduciaries, executors, families and advisors on strategic estate planning, appraisal and disposition of tangible personal property. Prior to joining Winston, Courtney had an 18 year career at Sotheby’s where she was most recently Vice President and Head of Department, Trusts & Estates and a specialist in American Art and Prints, working in both the New York and London offices. She has also worked in the firm’s Philadelphia and San Francisco offices. Courtney has been a licensed auctioneer since 2008, and continues to offer her auctioneering expertise to a host of museums and charitable organizations. As Vice President of the Board of East Side House Settlement, an educational and community service organization in the South Bronx, she has been closely affiliated with the Winter Show since 2009 and presently serves as Vice Chair. Currently on the Planned Giving Committees for the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the New York Historical Society, Courtney has also worked closely with the Shelburne Museum, where she curated exhibition of John James Audubons’ The Birds of America. She has been a lecturer and panelist on a full range of art and art market topics at museums and continuing education organizations across the country, including the Heckerling Institute Annual Trusts and Estates Conference and Sotheby’s Institute of Art. Courtney holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Princeton University, and is compliant with Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). Courtney lives with her husband and two daughters in Manhattan.

Robert brings 10 years of experience working with private collectors to Winston Art Group, most recently as the Vice President of West Coast business development for an independent art consultancy where he oversaw appraisals and art advisory in the Western Region including California, Texas, and the Pacific Northwest. Prior to his work in the art world, he was Business Development Manager at AIG Private Client Group and a personal lines high-net-worth insurance broker at Frank Crystal & Co. in New York City. Robert started his career as a personal lines underwriter at AMICA Mutual Insurance. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in European History from Brown University, is certified in Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), and is an affiliate of the Appraisers Association of America.

Kendall Reed brings over 15 years of experience in the Luxury market to Winston Art Group with a specialization in jewelry and experience in the area of Trusts & Estates.

Prior to joining Winston Art Group as Director of the New England region, based in Boston, she held various key positions on Sotheby’s jewelry team including Global Head of Online Jewelry Sales, Head of Fine Jewels Auctions in New York and most recently, Jewelry Director, Sotheby’s Buy Now Marketplace.

During her years at Sotheby’s, she appraised and sold many high-profile collections, including Jewels from the Estate of Brooke Astor, Jewels from the Collection of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Mellon and Jewels from the Collection of Mrs. Charles Wrightsman. Preceding her time in the Jewelry department, Kendall worked in the Sotheby’s Trusts and Estates department. Prior to joining Sotheby’s, Kendall worked for esteemed jewelers Harry Winston and Verdura.

Kendall graduated from Bowdoin College with a Bachelor of the Arts Degree in Art History. She is also a Graduate Gemologist who received her gemology degree at the Gemological Institute of America in New York and she is a USPAP Compliant Appraiser. Kendall and her husband and two daughters live in Wellesley, MA.

Shanna is the Senior Director of the Southwest Region, with offices in Houston and Denver, managing a multi-state region spanning Texas, the surrounding states and the Rocky Mountains. With over 15 years of experience assisting collectors and advisors in art industry segments including appraisal and advisory, fine art insurance and finance, Shanna has established a professional focus on supporting clients and their trusted advisors in all aspects of collections management.

Shanna received her Certificate in Appraisal Studies from the University of California, Irvine and is compliant in Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). She studied Art History at the University of Colorado, Denver and received her BBA from TCU. Shanna is highly involved in local arts organizations in Houston and Denver, and she currently serves on the Conservation Committee at the Denver Art Museum. Shanna is a member of estate planning councils in Houston, Dallas and Denver and is frequent speaker on topics related to collection care and planning.

Michelle DuBois is the Senior Director for the Southeast region of Winston Art Group, with an office in Palm Beach. Michelle has a PhD in Art History from Boston University, specializing in American and European Modern and African American Art. She received her Appraiser’s Certificate through the American Society of Appraisers program at Rhode Island School of Design. Michelle has over 25 years’ experience in both academic and art business realms. She has lectured on a variety of art historical topics as well as on the intersection of art and finance, in settings such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, as well as at venues in Seattle, Boston, Newport, RI. and NYC.

Michelle is the author of numerous articles and publications, the most notable being the co-authorship of the catalogue raisonné on Jacob Lawrence and the monograph, Jacob Lawrence: Over the Line, which was awarded The George Wittenborn Award for Excellence in Art Publications.

Elizabeth is Director of the Mid-Atlantic Region handling appraisals as well as sales and acquisitions of art, antiques and jewelry across Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Delaware. Elizabeth is also an experienced American Art Appraiser.

Prior to joining Winston Art Group, Elizabeth was a Vice President and Senior Specialist with the American Art department at Sotheby’s. Her nine-year tenure with the company included record-setting sales of works by Norman Rockwell, Georgia O’Keeffe, Childe Hassam and Jacob Lawrence. She previously held positions at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities.

Elizabeth earned a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and American History from Georgetown University and a Master of Arts in the History of Art from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, where she graduated with distinction.

Jack brings a background in international art business and art history to the Winston Art Group team. He first joined the Advisory Department as Associate Advisory Manager after graduating from Boston University’s Questrom School of Business, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and a minor in Art History. Jack is currently the Senior Director of Advisory and oversees all acquisition and deaccession projects. Jack first got a taste for the art world as gallery curator for Island6 Art Center in Shanghai, China. Throughout his college career, Jack interned at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in the Development Department, at the Art & Business Council of Greater Boston in the Corporate Art Lending Program, and also at Winston Art Group. Jack is fluent in English and French, speaks at a conversational level in Mandarin and Spanish, and has experience working with European and Asian collectors.

Charlie brings 18 years of experience in the art world to Winston Art Group. His knowledge of the contemporary art market was established through previous roles at major galleries such as Pace Gallery, Gagosian and Metro Pictures. Prior to joining Winston he founded and operated a private advisory group for several years and will continue advising clients worldwide on acquisitions and deaccessions as Director in the Advisory Department. Charlie is an horology enthusiast and WAG’s in-house watch market expert, specializing in Rolex, Audemars Piguet and Richard Mille. He has been actively advising collectors on buying and selling watches throughout the last several years of remarkable growth in this area. A graduate from Parsons in New York City, Charlie has experience as a gallery director, independent curator and artist liaison. He is an expert in post-war & contemporary art with an ardent love for Minimalism.

She joined Winston Art Group with experience in museum development at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and in client services at Phillips auction house. Prior to that, she assisted the editorial department at a major publication in art and fashion. Joelle holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art History from Syracuse University’s School of Visual and Performing Arts. Prior to joining Winston Art Group, Elizabeth spent 10 years in a variety of roles at Sotheby’s New York, beginning with the Single-Owner Sales Department, where she helped to bring high profile lifestyle collections to auction. She then moved to the Sotheby’s Valuations Department, first as an Account Manager overseeing a variety of appraisals for insurance, estate tax and collateral purposes, to Vice President, Director of Business Operations where, along with managing the day-to-day operations of the department, she worked to bring wider strategic and business development goals to life. Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and Classics from Loyola University and a Master of Arts from Sotheby’s Institute of Art.

Previously, Madeline worked in the education departments of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, VA and the Fralin Museum of Art in Charlottesville, VA, as well as with the development team at Second Street Gallery in Charlottesville, VA. Hannah Blechman brings 10 years of art world experience to her role of Appraisal & Advisory Associate for the West Coast at Winston Art Group. Prior to joining Winston, Hannah worked with private clients in Santa Fe, New Mexico to develop their collections and documentation.

This came after 8 years with Sotheby’s New York, where she managed and oversaw the creation of appraisal and sale documents for insurance, estate tax, donation, and collateral purposes. She led the Valuations Production team as an Assistant Vice President.

Hannah holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Wittenberg University.

After graduating from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, with a bachelor’s degree in history in 2008, she went on to spend four years living and working in Mainland China before returning to the U.K as Head of the Asian Art department at Halls Fine Art. In 2015 she moved to the U.S, working as the Houston representative for New Orleans Auction Galleries before shifting her primary focus to appraising in 2020. She is currently a candidate for Accredited Membership of the Appraisers Association of America and is compliant with Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.

Mackenzie brings a background of art history and artistic practice to the role of Appraisal Associate. Prior to interning and working with Winston Art Group, Mackenzie had enriching internship experiences with Baker Hunt Art and Cultural Center, the fashion brand, Iwanciw, and the non-profit Indicator Art. In addition to her internships, she has assisted in collection and copyright research to world renowned artist and curator, Mark Harris, in his last publication.

Mackenzie received her BFA from the University of Cincinnati DAAP program where her personal artwork was on display internationally. Her major exhibiting galleries are concentrated in Ohio, Italy, Puerto Rico, Barcelona, and London.

Sophia brings a background of art and art history. Prior to joining Winston Art Group, Sophia worked with private art advisors, art fairs including Frieze and The Winter Show, a wholesale & retail artist studio and gallery based in New Jersey, and most recently, the art-focused PR firm Third Eye Collective.

Sophia earned a Master of Arts in Art Business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and English from Lafayette College where she graduated with honors for the completion and defense of her thesis entitled “Ut Pictura Poesis: The Epic of Grace Hartigan and Frank O’Hara.” She is compliant with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).

Brian has been in the collectibles industry for 14 years. Before joining Winston Art Group, he was Director of Business Development for Benchmark Wine Group. Prior to that, Brian co-founded Asset Archives, where he managed all aspects of the company’s asset documentation and valuation processes for private clients. At Winston Art Group, Brian works in business development. He also conducts appraisals of fine and rare wine collections for all purposes and assists with sales, acquisitions, inventory and collection management for clients with wine collections.

Yosef Caldaron has been with Winston Art Group since 2012, and is director of our Fine Jewelry Acquisition Initiative. He is a seasoned jewelry professional with a deep understanding of the complex global gemstone and jewelry market. Possessing a breadth of experience that encompasses diverse roles in the industry, Yosef specializes in appraisal and advisory services with specific focus in important collections and rare acquisitions as our director of Fine Jewelry. A graduate of Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Business, Yosef also studied at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) where he earned his Graduate Gemology degree (GG) as well as the Accredited Jewelry Professional (AJP) and Graduate Pearls (GP) certificates; additionally, Yosef earned a Diplomae in Gemmology from the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A) and as such earned the title “Fellow of the Gemmological Association” (FGA). He possesses a rare combination of the world’s two most prestigious gemological degrees. Yosef also completed the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (NAJA) full appraisal studies course, and is constantly enriching his knowledge through continuing education. Prior work experience includes: Tiffany & Co. New York City in the fine jewelry sales department, Bader & Garrin Diamond Company as a diamond dealer and appraiser, as well as the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) laboratory in Ramat Gan, Israel, where Yosef was a diamond grader, having completed a 3 month full-time intensive training program that is unparalleled in the industry.

Yosef brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Winston Art Group as a lead Jewelry Specialist and Tel Aviv Liaison. He is a member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (NAJA) where he serves on the appraisal review committee for education, and is the only Certified Master Appraiser (CMA) in New York, one of less than twenty nationwide. Yosef prepares appraisals for all purposes, including but not limited to: estate tax and planning, retail replacement for insurance, fair market, donation, damage or loss, collateral, and family division. Additionally, he assists clients with rare acquisitions and deaccessions through his extensive network of dealers, auction houses, and private clients.

Dr. Hunter covers Europe for Winston Art Group, and is based in the UK.

Tim is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and a member of Professional Advisers to the International Art Market. He brings 20 years of experience in the art market to Winston Art Group and was formerly Director of Impressionist and Modern Art, Head of 19th Century European Art and Senior Director of Old Master & British Pictures for Christie’s.

Dr. Géza von Habsburg is an internationally renowned expert on Fabergé and has curated and published extensively on this subject. With a Ph.D. in Art History from the University of Fribourg, he has more than 40 years of experience in Russian art, Old Master Paintings, European Porcelain, Silver and Gold, and Objects of Vertu. Dr. von Habsburg has published 14 books, curated six major exhibitions attracting more than two million visitors, acts as an expert at international art fairs (including TEFAF in Maastricht), and lectures worldwide at museums and universities. Fluent in seven languages, Dr. von Habsburg spent his early career in Europe as Chairman of Christie’s Europe and as Chairman of Habsburg Fine Art International Auctioneers. He was recently appointed Visiting Professor at Okayama University in Japan, and acts as guest curator of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, where he organized the exhibition “Fabergé Revealed” (2011), the catalogue of which presents the museum’s impressive Fabergé collection in its entirety for the first time. Dr. von Habsburg is also the great great grandson of Emperor Franz Joseph of Austria, the grandson of King Fredrick Augustus II of Saxony, and has been featured in various documentaries about his family’s history.

Christopher has been in the Classic Car and Motorcycle industry for more than 15 years. Prior to joining Winston Art Group, he was Vice President and Head of U.S. Sales for Christie’s International Motor Cars. He also worked in Estates, Appraisals and Valuations at Christie’s New York. At Winston, Christopher conducts appraisals of classic cars and motorcycles for all purposes, in addition to assisting with acquisitions and sales of classic cars and motorcycles on behalf of clients. Christopher holds a Bachelor of Arts from Rollins College in Orlando, FL.
