SUSAN HUNTER

Senior Director, Appraisals

Susan has over 30 years of appraisal and auction experience. She specializes in American, English, and Continental Fine and Decorative Arts, and in 20th Century and Contemporary Design.  In 2020 she was certified by the Appraiser Qualifications Board of the The Appraisal Foundation as an instructor of The Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).  She is a certified member of the Appraisers Association of American and serves on their Board of Directors as Second Vice President.  In 2019 she was awarded the President’s Award by the Appraisers Association for outstanding contributions to the appraisal profession.  She has been an instructor for the Appraisal Institute of America’s Comprehensive Appraisal Studies Program (CASP) and adjunct instructor at New York University’s School of Professional Studies. She holds a Master’s Degree from the Bard Graduate Center in the History of Decorative Arts, Design and Material Culture, where she received the New York Silver Society’s Research Award, a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University, and a Certificate in Appraisal Studies from New York University. She has been a lecturer for Christie’s Education, presented at the Appraiser’s Association National Conference and has served as an expert witness in the decorative arts field.
